Sunken Gardens - St. Petersburg, Florida

Trip here is a great way to remove yourself from the city atmosphere, while still knowing that things are close by. Two to three hours gives one time to walk thru the trails by the gardens, the small exhibits, and the superb florida plant life. The tree and ferns hide the fact that a city is within yards as the trees here reach heights of over 100 feet. A good variety of colorful birds in the grounds and streams.

The Story behind the picture
Seeing these flamingos up close was quite impressive and added to appreciate the parks contents, especially when it was in the middle of St. Petersburg.

Was not really on the agenda, but after visiting glad they we did. Gardens are very well done.

John`s Recollections
In the middle of town, but very restful and quiet. This park gives you the opportunity to review the gardens, see a butterfly conservatory and view some tropical fish and birds. A pleasant walk that should not take more than 2-3 hours of your time.
