SNOWBIRD TRAVELS - Continuing Onward!

Florida continues to draw Snowbirds to visit during the winter months. Most are from Canada and the Northern US States. The question is really, Why, do they continue to come by the millions. After 20+ years of snowbirding, I will attempt to show some of our findings.

The Reasons

Number One: Weather.

Not just the heat, as it can get cool 40`s in Central Florida. You can actually get outside more often, walk and breathe the fresh air without fearing of hurting oneself. Not only does it provide for better health of oneself it makes you live longer.

Number Two: Re-invigorate your life.

An item that is not always considered. Most snowbirds cannot wait to return. The Ocean waters, eating out, partying, and fellowship of others of similar ages searching for that is what life is about is contagious.

Lake Lauzon - Blind River, Ontario, Canada

Lake Lauzon is twenty miles in length, yet rarely exceeds a half mile in width.

After an excellent dinner in Blind River with Lake Lauzon in the background we continued our homeward bound trip easterly. Some twenty miles later we spotted the Lake Lauzon Resort. A stop was necessary to question our minds. Same lake, but never seen it since Blind River.
Booked the night at the B&B and had an exceptional stay, a Finnish Sauna, terrific Sunset and another place to return to. PS. Had a fabulous breakfast!

Scarborough Cliffs - Ontario, Canada

The Scarborough Bluff's are unusual as they are located on the shores of Lake Ontario. They are quite different from the normal landscape.

After viewing the Cliffs we walked back along the Lake Ontario shoreline and were blocked by the Canadian Geese! A slight detour let us finish the excursion at a good restaurant at the Marina harbor.

Drive highlights - Gulf Boulevard, Indian Shores, Florida

Must say that this part of the gulf coast, is where I enjoy the most for our snowbird season. Favorite beach, favorite bars, favorite restaurants and even favorite lodging.

The Story behind the pictures
The Clearwater beach area always has busy times but here at Indian Shores the pace is a little bit slower and quieter. Makes for a more enjoyable time for seniors, yet it is close to Clearwater Beach where there is non stop entertainment.

John`s Comments
Driving north on Gulf Boulevard provides an opportunity to view many of the local highlights in Indian Shores.

John`s Recollections
Spent a winter snowbird stay at Barefoot Beach and the area soon became a favorite as it provided or exceeded most of our requirements for a winter in Paradise.
