Drive highlights - Hwy 17 - Lake Superior - Montreal River Descent ***SUPERB***

The descent while driving Hwy 19 near Montreal River is one great scene. Rarely while driving does the scenery continue to be awesome for over two minutes

The Story behind the picture

Not only is this one of my favorite drives, it is an area where I have been fortunate to return to often. It actually took a while to share as one sometimes has a feeling of keeping the best as private memories but this scenery really does need to be shared.

Personally this is among my top scenes, as the descent to the Harbor below continues for an extended period of time with ample time to view Lake Superior at it`s finest with those Islands in the background.

John`s Recollections
At most times traffic is limited, but the driver must pay attention to the road as the scenery seems to take precedance. Limited roadside stops on the way down this section of highway. At the bottom there is a small lodging operation where one get close to Lake Superior itself and get a drink and sandwich.
