Crazy Horse Memorial - South Dakota

This carving into one of the foothills in South Dakota can be considered "under construction". It is however, much larger than the sculptures at Mount Rushmore, and when completed will provide a fitting monument to one of America's greatest Indian chieftans. The facility is more commercial, with good viewing capabilities, museum and store to purchase products.

The Story behind the picture
The sheer size of this sculpture was what impressed me most and much of our time spent here was viewing many of the exhibits that showed how construction was progressing. Not like Mount Rushmore where it is a fait accompli, this sculpture had many more years before completion before it gains the similar stature. This is a private enterprise and not part of the state or national park system so dollars are more readily sought for, from customers entering the exhibit.
